A Legacy of Care, Reimagined for Today

Lakeside Kennel and Cattery has been a trusted name in pet care since 1973, when it was founded by AKC judge Sharon Newcomb with a vision for excellence in boarding and grooming. In 2016, the facility entered a new chapter under George Berstler, a world-renowned German Shepherd handler who first worked at Lakeside as a young kennel assistant. Owning Lakeside had long been George’s dream, and his deep respect for its legacy fuels every detail of its evolution.
Today, Lakeside blends over 50 years of experience with a modern, enrichment-first approach to animal care. We prioritize individualized attention, sensory-rich environments, and a calm, clean atmosphere that supports each pet’s well-being. Our philosophy centers on enrichment—not group play—ensuring every guest receives care tailored to their unique temperament and needs. With indoor–outdoor dog runs, open-air cat condos, and lush play paddocks shaded by trees, we’ve created a space where pets don’t just stay—they thrive.
